Win Tickets To Edible Manhattan's Seaport Birthday Party

20090922edmanhattan.jpgSouth Street Seaport has become an unlikely eater's paradise of late, between the monthly meetings of the New Amsterdam Market and the smaller Fulton Stall Market.

So what better place for magazine Edible Manhattan to celebrate its first birthday? This Saturday, September 26, from 4 to 8 p.m., they'll be holding a properly food-centric gathering down at the Seaport. Expect good eats from:

Plus drinks from Stumptown Coffee, Heartland Brewery, Kelso of Brooklyn, Schmaltz Brewing Company, Fire Island Beer Company, and more.

Tickets are $40 (available here), but we're giving away two pairs right here on Serious Eats.

To enter to win, just answer the following question in the comments: What New York restaurant or purveyor would you want at your birthday party?

Two winners will be chosen at random from among eligible commenters. Contest will end and comments will close at noon ET, Friday, September 25, 2009. Each winner will recieve one pair of tickets. One entry per community member. The standard Serious Eats contest rules apply.

Porchetta for savory bites, but a cake made of layered Doughnut Plant donuts would take the...um...breath away from my guests.

vote for pastry chefs at Locanda Verda, Momofuku Milk Bar, Gramercy Tavern or Chikalicious!!!

Murray's Cheese!

banh mi saigon! the jewelry shop that it shares space with could come set up a table, too, to preserve the ambiance.

momofuku. pork belly? fried chicken?! what's not to love?

Russ and daughters. Bagel and lox with cream cheese!

the boys from baked, matt and nato. LOVE them!

That's easy, brunch food fare from Public. I'm dreaming about the decadent pastries, fluffy brioche, piles of pancakes, and the bread swimming in the sea of Turkish eggs. [Hundred Acres is a close second because I go there quite often.] Lastly, because every birthday needs a cake, I would want a gigantic busy bee cake -- complete with those decorative bees - from Black Hound.

Oh my god. I'm going to eat everything in my refrigerator now.

Dom DeMarco of DiFara's!

i think it would have to be a combination of birthdays past. apps and dinner at Chimu in willamsburg. this is easily my most favorite restaurant and has been for years now. my craving for the papa rellena de carne simply cannot be sated and its all i can do to not go there every night just for this (a girl's gotta watch her waistline, you know?). the tacu tacu is my standard entree, and its not for lack of other delicious menu items, but again, my craving for this cannot be ignored. ive heard Chimu has the best ceviche around, but i dont eat seafood, so ill leave that to my pescatarian friends to decide. ;)

dessert would have to be courtesy of magnolia bakery-- and if you think im talking about their cupcakes, youre dead wrong! this place is all about the red velvet cheesecake for me. with an oreo cookie like crust and cream cheese frosting, its really a wonder how i get anything done at all because since july, not a day has gone by that i have not thought about this cheesecake. and its definitely a crowd favorite: http://tinyurl.com/lwsmwo

Momofuku Milk Bar.

Sugar Sweet Sunshine - I can't walk by without getting a cup of banana pudding!

I'd have Prosperity Dumpling fill up a baby pool with pot stickers and hose me down with soy ginger sauce. It'll probably cost twelve bucks.

David Chang: Food from ALL of his restaurants. Hey - if it's my birthday, I'd want to piggle :)

David Chang, of course. Trendy and delicious.

Marlow & Sons for pork belly

Flor De Mayo

Momofuku Milk Bar!!

peter pan bakery - yum dougnuts!!

some david chang pork buns!

Calexico Cart tacos!

taim, lassi, or caracas arepas.

Kitchenette. Nom nom nom.

Fish tacos from Mole....they're awesome! :-)

Dan Barber and anything he brings along, especially in mini-burger form.

Keste "design your own" pizza and Stand milkshakes!

Doughnut Plant... One of everything on the menu please!

otto -- pizzas for everyone and olive oil coppetta for dessert!

high-brown: david chang
low-brow: junior's

grew up on new york-style cheesecake and there ain't nothing better!

high-brown: david chang
low-brow: junior's

grew up on new york-style cheesecake and there ain't nothing better!

Greenpoint's Habitat. They serve me dinner on most nights anyways, so luckily I won't have to wait for my fantasy-catered-birthday to eat their delicious foods.

Sullivan Street Bakery, pizza bianca for everyone and bombolini's! Do I need to say anymore?

Shopsin's General Store!

The Waffles and Dinges Truck!

It bears repeating, but Shake Shack, ftw.

Morimoto...definitely Morimoto

addrienne's pizza bar

The Spotted Pig. April is amazing with her piggy geniusness.

And, to top things off, red velvet cake from Lassen & Hennigs.

momofuku, momofuku, momofuku.

taim -- love their falafel and smoothies

well, since the question was who you would want at your birthday, i'd have to go with bourdain, who's drinking partner bona fides are unquestionable.

Taim Falafel would be fun. Shakeshack is a no brainer too, as long as you include the frozen custard.

I would want either Adrienne's pizza or Chennai Gardens. Or both. I'd also happily take Anthony Bourdain and/or Eric Ripert in lieu of a restaurant so that they could tell me fantastic places to eat.

Right now, I'd have to go with Lure Fishbar -- incredible oysters, delicious chicken 'lollipops,' great burger, fantastic uni...cocktails aren't bad either.

Oh, and some cheeses from Murray's, herring in cream sauce from R&D, Gray's, ...

Babycakes!!! I wanted their cakes at my wedding, but it was just too expensive to have shipped.

Oh, let's make it an ice cream party. Labratorio del Gelato and at least the almond cookie ice cream from the Chinatown Ice Cream Factory.

Hmmm. I'm all about the sweets, so I think I'd love to have the Sweet Revenge crew on hand for lots of amazing goodies and my good friends at ThisChickBakes.com for some awesome cookies!!!!

Clinton St. Baking Co. It would be the best brunch themed birthday. EVER.

I would really like Butter Lane Cupcakes to make me a birthday cake. They're an all natural bakery and their cupcakes are delicious.

Bon Chon. Nothing makes a birthday like chicken wings.

Shake Shack

Tacos Nuevo Mexico

Market Table. They had me at "old bay fries"...

Do the truck vendors from the Red Hook ballfields count? Papusas = a party :-)

Magnolia for their Red Velvet Cake. Also Porcetta for their fantastic sandwiches.

Otto! Bring on the pasta, pizza and gelato.

Il laboratorio de Gelato!! Still my favorite.

van leeuwen ice cream

Marlow and Sons for the oysters and champagne. Mmmmm.

Francois Payard

River Cafe!

David Chang/Christina Tosi. Second on the food from Public - I've enjoyed everything I've had there. And...the bartender from Angel's Share for (lots) of drinks.

I want Chika/Chikalicious for my birthday party. She's absolutely adorable :)

To provide food or conversation?? Danny Meyer whipping up shakes would be pretty great.

My dream birthday celebration would include a lower east side smorgasboard - Dr. Brown's, pastrami, and french fries from Katz's; and lox and bagels from Russ and Daughters. This is my grandparents' grub, and reminds me where I come from. And the obscene amounts of salt remind me where I'm going- to a land of old age where, eventually, I won't be able to eat this much sodium and still stand. And finally, only on your birthday do people still have to love you after you eat onions and smoked fish!

Sweet Sugar Sunshine bakery on Rivington Street for their amazing personalized decorated cupcakes.

Alice's Tea Cup - awesome rooibus tea and the BEST chocolate cake in NYC

Alta Restaurant with the most amazing tapas!

Burgers from the Shake Shack, Pizza by Dom (Di Fara's), arepas courtesy of Caracas, and for dessert, cupcakes from Sugar Sweet Sunshine, creme brulee Doughnut Plant doughnuts, with coffee from Abraco. did i miss anything? maybe some pork via porchetta or david chang. and of course mario batali just to keep an eye on everything...

He isn't from New York, but sells to a lot of great NYC restaurants.
Bev Eggleston

Il Brigante Piiiiiiizzaaaaaa!!!

momofuku milk bar

stand burgers for the toasted-marshmallow milkshakes all around!

toss up: Floyd Cardoz/Tabla or Russ & Daughters.

Niki Russ Federman and Josh Russ Tupper talking fish at Russ & Daughters!

Shake Shack

ippudo ramen and dim sum from jing fong ... and then I want it to be a dessert smorgasbord. gelato from grom, frozen yogurt from yogurtland, shakes from shake shack and pistachio cupcakes from sugar sweet sunshine. so i can die fat, but happy.

Too many food options. Sixpoint Ales of Brooklyn, instead!

If I could get Crubs Bakery to make me a giant cupcake as a birthday cake, I'd be ok with dying on my birthday. That is, after eating the cupcake.

Artichoke pizza. Upgrade from the birthday pizza parties you had when you were a kid, right?

damn thing won't let me edit or delete my comment. I meant CRUMBS bakery! haha
